Financial pressures force printing firm into liquidation

Blog Liquidation

A family-run printing business has collapsed, it was confirmed this week.

A liquidator was appointed to deal with Meigle Colour Printers, located in the Scottish Borders.

A decision was taken a few days ago to immediately cease trading, with 15 members of staff made redundant.

The business had been set up several decades ago, supplying brochures, flyers and other materials to local individuals and enterprises, but had found trading conditions had worsened significantly in recent times.

In particular the shift from traditional print to digital media and the spiralling cost of materials had put the firm under ever more pressure.

Liquidator Blair Nimmo said: “It is sad to see another printing firm, particularly one as well established as Meigle, enter liquidation, with the loss of employment to the Scottish Borders.

“We will do everything we can to seek a buyer for the company’s assets to maximise recoveries for creditors.

“We would encourage any party who has an interest in acquiring the company’s assets, which include high-quality printing equipment, stock and the brand name, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Scottish Borders Council is now working with the affected members of staff – many of whom are understood to have been with the firm for some time – to find alternative employment.
