Traditional desktop accounting packages are usually bought for a fixed fee and an annual support contract.  Extra sums are often charged for product or version upgrades.

Cloud accounting packages charge an inclusive monthly fee (from £20 + vat) and all the upgrades are implemented and actioned free of charge. Thus, these lower costs are spread over the period of use. If you have signed on through your accountant, they will provide any necessary training and support.

Traditional packages often charge by user numbers, whereas the cloud model is not so restrictive.

Using the cloud, reduces the need for computers with large or fast hard drives.
